FIRE CHIEF
Michael G. Riley
Michael G. Riley assumed the responsibilities of Fairborn’s Fire Chief on January 1, 2005. Mike began his fire career in December 1989 with the State of Ohio, serving as a fire fighter at the Springfield Air National Guard Base. In 1994, he was promoted to Fire Lieutenant. As such, he was responsible for aircraft and structural emergencies, fire safety and prevention as well as hazardous material mitigation. In 1997, he joined the Fairborn Fire Department as a firefighter and received his paramedic certification in June of 1999. In January 2003, Mike was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he supervised personnel during fire and EMS emergencies. In March 2004, he assumed the responsibilities of the Battalion Chief EMS Coordinator. In this capacity, he was responsible for ensuring that the training for all certified paramedics was up-to-date and the medic units were available for emergency response to the public. In July 2004, Mike was promoted to the position of Training Chief. Mike has also been a member of the Ohio Air National Guard, Springfield, since May of 1986. He retired as the Assistant Chief of Operations at the rank of Master Sergeant. He supervised the fire protection for the F-16 aircraft and the National Guard base facilities as well as supervising personnel during military deployments. Over the years, Mike has expanded his knowledge of the fire service through training in areas such as Haz-Mat incident command, emergency response to terrorism and weapons of mass destruction, and confined space entry and rescue. He is a certified fire instructor and a certified fire inspector. Mike and his wife, Eva, have two sons. |
