About the Fairborn Police Department
The Fairborn Police Department is comprised of the Chief of Police, two Captains, seven Sergeants, thirty-three Officers, eleven Dispatcher/Jailers and twelve civilian support personnel. The Police Department consists of two divisions:
Patrol – Responsible for patrolling City roadways and interstate highways; responds to criminal and non-criminal complaints; enforces traffic violations and investigates traffic crashes. Interacts with citizens and neighborhoods utilizing a community policing effort. The Patrol Captain oversees the uniformed patrol officers, property room and civilian volunteer program.
Detective – Investigates all Part I felonies and Part II crimes requiring further follow-up. Detectives are also responsible for background investigations of new police officers and dispatchers; contribute two officers to the Greene County Drug Task Force, along with providing a polygraph operator for the Police Department. The Juvenile Detective works closely with the school system, Children’s Services, and other Greene County agencies in regard to child abuse cases. The Detective Captain supervises the Criminal Intelligence Unit, the Records Section, Communications Center, Jail Facility and physical plant maintenance.
