Mission Statement

To serve as the City's legislative body in order to provide and enhance City services, assure orderly growth, and promote the general welfare for the good of the entire community.

Specific Functions

Meet in official session on the first and third Monday of each month.

Uphold the City’s Charter and Codified Ordinances. Appoint a City Manager. Enact ordinances and resolutions. Set Policy. Approve the annual budget. Participate in State and regional committees. Present proclamations, keys to the City, and other forms of recognition to deserving individuals, businesses, and organizations.

Council Meetings

The Fairborn City Council meets on the first and third Mondays of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council room at the Fairborn Government Center, 44 West Hebble Avenue. Citizens are encouraged to attend the public meetings. Click here to watch a LIVE meeting or replay a past meeting.

Mayor's Hours

Mayor Tom Nagel holds regular office hours from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on the Thursdays prior to Council Meetings at the Fairborn Government Cetner. If you would like to speak with him or schedule an appointment please call 754-3030.

Councilman Wood's 'Meet the Community' Sessions

Councilman Robert Wood holds a monthly session with citizens at Daniel's Donuts, 1878 S. Maple Avenue, on the first Wednesday of each month from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Public Participation at Meetings:

Participation at Council meetings occurs in two ways, through public hearing and citizen comments. The presiding officer (mayor) of the City Council will recognize individuals requesting to speak at City Council Meetings. Topics not scheduled for public hearing may be discussed under Citizens' Comments. Individuals wishing to speak are asked to abide by the following procedure:

  1. Wait to speak until recognized by the presiding officer.
  2. Approach the podium and state your name and address for the official record.
  3. Address remarks to the presiding officer.
  4. Respond to questions from Council Members.
  5. During a public hearing, limit comments to subject under discussion.
  6. During Citizens' Comments, limit comments to three (3) minutes.
  7. Avoid complaints and/or remarks directed against individual employees or Council Members. (These type of complaints and/or remarks will be ruled out of order by the presiding officer and should be handled instead through the proper procedures for filing complaints.)

Public statements will be accepted during public hearings and the Citizens' Comments portion of the meeting at the times noted above. Please be respectful and courteous. If necessary, agree to disagree. Please avoid personal attacks and offensive language.
