Terry Burkert

Terry L. Burkert was elected to Fairborn City Council on November 3, 2015, and took the oath of office on December 7, 2015.

Terry is a native of Rossville, Illinois, a farming community of approximately 1,500. He entered the Air Force as Airman Basic in December 1969. Terry served his country overseas at Clark AB, Philippines; CCK AB, Taiwan; and Tan Son Nhut AB, RSV. He also served stateside at Richards-Gebaur AFB, Missouri, before receiving PCS orders to Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, in August 1972. Terry was honorably discharged from the Air Force in December 1973, and decided to make Fairborn his permanent home.

In March 1974, he began his civil service career at Wright-Patterson AFB, as an Aircraft Mechanic, and spent the next 27 years in varied civil service positions before his retirement in January 2001.

Terry began his next career working for a base contractor in September of 2001, and retired in December 2015.

Terry has been a resident of Fairborn since 1973, and considers Fairborn his home town. He has been married to his wife, Sharon, for 42 years.

Terry is involved in many community activities, including Christmas In Action, Third of July Block Party, Sweet Corn Festival, Heels for Heroes, cheering runners in downtown Fairborn at the Air Force Marathon, participating in Halloween and Christmas activities conducted by Fairborn Mayor's Beautification Committee.

He looks forward to serving the people of Fairborn as a Councilman!
