The Citizens Police Academy is a twelve-week course, that will meet every Thursday, dealing with all aspects of law enforcement roles, operations, and community service. Taught by Fairborn officers, participants can expect to learn about SRO, shoot/don't shoot scenarios, patrol, crash and OVI investigations, firearms safety, and much more.
The Citizens Police Academy is open to Fairborn residents and business owners over 18 yrs old. To ensure all participants receive the maximum benefit from the program, class size is limited to sixteen (16) participants and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. A criminal background check is required as part of the application process. The Fairborn Police Department reserves the right to deny applications based on an applicant's criminal history. For more information, contact Sgt. Willard Watts at 937-754-3227.
Academy participants must attend 10 of 12 class sessions to receive a certificate of completion. During the academy, participants can schedule a ride-along session with a Fairborn Police officer by contacting Sgt. Willard Watts at 937-754-3066 ext. 3811
